Customer Reviews

Good fit, but probably not 2mm.Fits true to size, but I'm skeptical about these being 2mm as advertised. They're about as thick as my 1mm spring suit (which does, in fact, measure 1mm when I use a caliper to measure the fabric). Bought these because my 3mm booties were a bit too filling in my freediving fins, causing major cramping. Unfortunately, these allow the fins to all but slip off my feet, resulting in pretty poor power transfer. Guess they'd be fine as general water shoes. 2Probably good for intended purpose...I bought these due to a recommendation I came across from a review for a different product- actually unrelated to the real purpose of these (snorkeling, etc). I have Raynaud's Syndrome, as did the reviewer of the other product. She recommended this exact product as serving a totally different purpose, being extremely helpful to her Raynaud's and lack of circulation in her feet (resulting in feet becoming painfully cold). I have this problem and got these. I didn't have the same experience unfortunately. Arrived in good condition, good seller experience. I wouldn't recommend these for keeping feet warm in out of water, regular, outdoor winter, cold conditions.probably great for snorkeling, though. 3Great Deal, Quality Fit, Multiple use for one trip!I purchased these for a snorkeling trip to wear with my fins in Belize, but I found them useful for many activities there. They were a comfortable snug fit, good quality of construction and fabric thickness. I wore these with my water shoes on a hiking trip that required crossing streams and traversing through rocky sand and water. They were useful to protect your feet while swimming in the ocean and from being sunburned on the beach or boating. I wear women's size 7. I purchased size 6. 5Can't recommend them highly enough!Great socks to wear under your fins. Fins (esp. a pair of long, high power, hard kick fins of mine) used to cut deep cuts just below my ankles which took considerable time to heel and even have left they scars. Needless to tell you that after a while it was very uncomfortable and painful wearing and using my fins. I tried some other type of socks made from a much thinner material but they didn't ameliorate the problem neither they were made to last. Just after a couple of uses they were falling apart, opening in the seems. And they were not cheap either. Till a scuba buddy of mine highly recommended these socks to me. He was wearing them during a weekly scuba vacation. So I ordered them soon after we came back home and I am happy I did. I have used these socks dozens of times so far. Not only they are well made to last (I have worn them stepping over some sharp edge rocks and rocky and sandy beaches for shore diving or snorkeling and they held together very nicely) but most importantly they have solved my problem of the fins hurting and cutting into my feet after using them for a while with bare feet. True to size, with the thinner ones your feet will slip into your fins like a glove and soon after you won't even notice you wear them. Can't recommend them highly enough! 5Blister-free hiking! My husband and I bought these socks to go underneath our Keens while we went hiking in Zion's Narrows trail, a hike that runs along a riverbed. We were hiking in waist-deep water nearly all day, and these socks were seriously amazing. Kept our feet not only rock and sand free, but blister free! Hallelujah! Can't rave enough about these! 5Great socks for hikes that have underwater portions.I bought these specifically to hike the Narrows at Zion National Park. Coupled with some La Sportiva Trail Runners, they proved to be very useful at keeping me comfortable for hours on end in the water, and the shoes dried out quite easily when we ended the hike. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to hike The Narrows. 5So glad I found these! Well made, warm, and work really well with my training fins!I love these! I ve been wearing training swim fins in a lap pool 4-5 days a week, for over an hour each time I swim, so I needed something to help prevent blisters/rubbing from the fins. These neoprene Akona socks are the perfect solution, and keep my feet nice and warm! They are very well made, easy to put on while I m in the water, and fit so better much than I expected. I normally wear a women s 9-9.5 shoe, but I purchased the Men s 9/Women s 10 size Akona socks after some reviewers indicated they might run a bit small. I m really glad I chose these instead of a generic brand, since Akona is known for dive boots/socks and wetsuits (I checked their website before purchasing) so think these will last a very long time! After swimming in a saltwater pool, I rinse with cool tap water/soak with woolite and then air dry, the same way I wash my swimsuits. I never machine wash or dry them. So far so good- They stay in place perfectly, and haven t stretched out at all.I have tender feet, and I m easily bothered by rough seams in socks, so I was surprised to find that the seams on these are well placed, and are so smooth that I can t even feel them while wearing. At 2mm, these are the right weight, and add just the right amount of padding to make my swim fins fit much better. And I think they will also provide good insulation for cold weather swimming/dive purposes.I purchased these at full price, and am not receiving any kind of discount or compensation for my review. I find reviews written by other consumers to be incredibly helpful when making purchases, so I hope my thoughts have been helpful to you, as well! 5Vulcanized Shmulkanized!I have no idea why people complain about the size being tight - perhaps they corrected the sizing issues by the time I bought them but I wear a 12 and ordered 12's and they fit perfectly if not a tad loose which is fine since they'll be locked in place by my fins.I deducted stars because (and I should have read through the 339 reviews to find this complaint before ordering) they are not vulcanized soles - they are the same texture and material as the rest of the sock which sucks on a slick boat deck or any other smooth surface since they enhance the slickness.. I don't know why, despite it being mentioned in at least one review I found, the seller hasn't corrected the description. I passed on another brand since these offer specific shoe sizes, rather than S/M/L/XL, but the other brand has traction on the bottom which would have altered my selection.Guess I'll keep these as loaners for my friends, and keep the camera rolling to catch their slip n fall accidents for youtube. 2NICE WATER SOCKS !I purchased both water socks:1)One pair made by H2Odyssey Mini Sock. (2mm Unisex Fin Sock)2) This model, the Akona Adventure Gear. (Low Cut model)They are both in the same price range, fit and finish. The only major difference is that the Akona appears to be just ever so slightly thicker but the H2O model, and the H2Odysseyhas a rubber sole.....a big plus on land and on the boat....but harder to get in to the fin !! You decide. 5Great Insulators For Cold FeetI was made aware of this product after I ordered neoprene toe covers intended to keep your toes warm. (I suffer from cold feet.)Their one-size-fits-all product was much too tight. A reviewer of that product mentioned having found these Akona Low Cut Socks, and said that they were great for helping to keep his feet warmer. I don't dive, but I was sold on the idea of warmer feet during the winter.I originally ordered size 11, my foot size, but the Akona Socks were a bit too narrow to be comfortable for me. I do have fairly wide feet. I returned that pair (paying for postage) and ordered size 13 to replace them, intending to wear them in conjunction with regular socks as added insulation. The size 13 is a much better fit for my purposes. The width is more comfortable for me, and the slight amount of extra room in the toes does not seem to be an issue, especially wearing them over thick socks. I wear slippers or moccasins around the house, and the added bulk does not cause a problem. In conjunction with my insulated boots that I wear when out during the winter, however, the extra bulk makes for a slightly too-tight fit. Were I to be using these in conjunction with swim fins, I would probably go with 1 size larger than my foot, but again, that is just due to my wide feet..I can assuredly see the huge benefit of using the Akona Socks in conjunction with water shoes, or just walking on sand. (The cheap pair of water shoes which I own will very quickly rub against and blister my feet whenever I wear them.I've only had these for a few days, but I would definitely purchase them again for their insulation value alone. 5
