Stretchy yet snugI find that after driving for a while, I get lower backaches. Also, after lifting heavy objects, same thing. So I bought this belt, knowing that I was looking for something stretchy enough to not pinch my lower back nerves but snug enough to keep my pants up. This was the perfect solution. Note that the design of it is not what one would call "fashionable", but rather it could be described as "utilitarian". Good for wearing a shirt over it, or for wearing with work clothes. I might reshape the end to make it more tongue-like. As long as the edge is re-fused, it should be okay to do that.5Great belt for larger individualsI needed an inner belt to fit under my duty belt at work. I've used standard leather and nylon belts in the past, but they would always cut into my waist when I was sitting or bending down. Now that I have this belt, all my other belts are collecting dust. Simply stated, this is the best belt I've ever owned. With a standard belt, I would have to over tighten it so it wouldn't fall down when I moved around. This would lead rashes and sometimes friction burns after a long day. With the BETTA belt, I can keep the tension comfortable, and the belt stretches and moves with me. I have a 46 inch waist, so I can tell you that this is a real blessing for all you bigger people out there.UPDATE: A year and a half later this belt is still going strong. I use it every day at work and the belt is STILL in like-new condition. The elastic has held up from overstretching and the buckle is still working with no damage. I read another review that mentioned the buckle digs into the belly which is true with all belts. That can't be helped, just pull the lip of you pants above the top of the belt. Hands down, the best belt ever for big guys.5The elastic is too weak.I've worn the belt a few times and am not happy with it. The elastic is so weak that by the time I pull it tight enough to keep my pants up there is about a foot of extra belt hanging out. I bought the correct size as any shorter and I wouldn't be able to thread it through the buckle.1So far, so good...........Although I've only had the belt a week it has lived up to my expectations. The buckle appears to be of good quality but I am most impressed with the material of the belt. It is stretchy enough to get it to fit right, look good & most importantly, hold my pants up! I have choices now. I don't have to wear a leather belt that has to be adjusted between sitting & standing. I don't have to look like every other old man & wear suspenders. I was tired of wearing belts on pants that were too tight when sitting down, too loose when standing up. The painful, awkward and embarrassing spectacle of having to adjust my pants whenever I sit (loosen them)/ stand (tighten them lest they fall) drove me to search online for this belt. Needless to say, perfect pant sizes for people like me didn't exist (side note- they are now stocking in-between sizes like 33 for Jeans at TJMaxxs :))..Anyways I can't believe how good they are- the main benefit is that they stretch, so even if it's the appropriate tightness when standing up, it does not cut into the skin when sitting down so it's not painful even after sitting for several hours. I hope this review helps guys, go and get this belt!!!5Really Great Stretch Belt!I ordered numerous different plastic buckled belts, and this one (along with the Thomas Bates Bulldog belt) are the best pretty much perfect! If you want stretch, go for this one, if not, choose the Bulldog.The belt material is a nice, very soft feeling webbing with the perfect amount of stretch. If you want soft comfiness, it's perfect. Also a perfect 1&1/2 inch width. For length, I am a size 30 waist and the size small I ordered was perfect, but I wouldn't have wanted it even an inch shorter, so beware to not order too small a size. You can always cut it and singe the end with a flame.The buckle is great and is indeed an improved (and wider) version of the standard "hiker belt" flip tab buckle. Though they both clamp totally securely, this one is much less vulnerable to breakage. A very smart subtle design change that can make all the difference between a usable and broken belt buckle.[Another option for a stretch belt is the Strait City Trading Co. men's stretch belt. There are some substantial differences though. First, the belt material of the Strait City's is MUCH stiffer edge to edge, AND less stretchy than the Betta belt. It has a very different feel, not only in your hand, but around your waist too; closer to a medium-stiff leather belt with a touch of stretch. It would be much better for carrying a few tools due to its stiffness. Second, the Straight City's buckle and end tab are metal, not plastic like I thought they would be. The buckle can, however, be easily removed and swapped out. (If you want to change it for the Betta buckle, you'll need to cut and re-sew, as the Betta's is permanently sewed to the belt). The Bulldog's belt buckle, also excellent and the same width, is easily removable and swappable without cutting/sewing.]In conclusion, the Betta is simply a great belt if you want a comfy stretch, plastic buckled belt. Worth the higher price, if that's what you're looking for!5A horrible belt. The plastic buckle either doesn't work or ...A horrible belt. The plastic buckle either doesn't work or is broken. It is going back. I have been looking for a long time for a stretch belt that actually works.Leather belts that I have bought before either are too small or too big. I can never find the right size. I did buy a stretch belt 6 or 9 months ago that cost a lot less than this one and even though it was far from perfect at least it was serviceable until it broke. This belt is completely useless. I guess I will keep looking. The reviews on this one were very good so even though the plastic buckle made me nervous I gambled on buying it. It turned out to be a big mistake. What I need is a stretch belt with a metal buckle. I will keep on looking for a belt I will like. Don't waste your money on this belt. Not only doesn't the buckle work but it looks to be cheaply made and even if it wasn't broken to begin with probably wouldn't last very long. Don't waste your money on this belt. There has to be a better quality belt out there that actually works and I will keep looking.1The search continuesI'm a big guy, 350 lbs, and I hate wearing belts. I have no butt, so pant and even underwear fall right off. So I have to wear something to hold them up. I have been wearing suspenders for a couple years, but I had to try something else because suspenders have their own problems. I tried this belt in hopes that it would work. It does keep my pants up, and is more comfortable than other belts I have tried, but only when standing up. I sit in a car for about 3 hours every day and in front of a computer the rest of the day. This belt, like most others, pinches the spot wear it sits under my gut. It's not as bad as others, and if I had to wear a belt, I would recommend this one. But I can tell I won't be wearing it as much. It left a sore under my gut the first day I wore it. If I plan on going camping or fishing, I will probably have this belt on. But not for sitting in a car or in front of a computer all day. So the search is still on to find a belt that works for me. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know!3Good buyWas as expected. The cam buckle is slim and works well for us "beer bellied" folks.The material does stretch enough but not too much to let your plumber's crack show.4Maybe good for men who wear lightweight suits or shorts only.I had high hopes, but it is necessary for me to tell you that this belt is not as high a quality of elastic that I had hoped for. It is quite a thin gauge of elastic. It s slightly heavier duty than the elastic on your briefs. Yes, those. I found it was flopping around as I was trying to thread it through my belt loops. The threading end was heat severed off from the roll it came off from and the seared edges are rough. I accidentally stepped on the buckle later on in the day as I was changing my clothes and I heard a crack and when I lifted the belt up, the hinges cover had snapped off. It didn t break, and I was able to pop it back on with effort and a thin screwdriver. I carry gear on my belt and this is completely inadequate for any load bearing or even a cell phone holster. It s very thin. I would wear this for traveling to avoid metal detectors and only for very light weight clothing.3
