Customer Reviews

Got rid of my oddball seat post. Our tandem bike uses a weird size seat post. This made installing seat post accessories like a trail a bike really difficult. Not I can use the same posts found on almost all mountain bikes.5Great for OCC StingrayWas able to use my mountain bike seat stem, a medium sized stem,on my OCC Stingray. Yes OCC Stingray seat posts are 31.8.Make sure you measure your seat post before you buy any shim.I have three different size seat posts on my three bikes.5Well made quality partVery well made. I m glad I went with a brand name machined shim. I used this to put a smaller diameter carbon seat post into my titanium frame. Since it has a nice powder coat I wasn t worried about it seizing to the titanium. Very light grease on the frame side just in case and some carbon high friction compound on the seat post side and it worked great.5Pre-measure, Inner circumference of your bicycle. Noting that when the Cane Cree Seatpost You're 27.2 May not fit.Very brave description to the best of my ability:The item arrive quickly. Inserting the item into my bicycle seat post Was a very difficult process not knowing the exact inner conference of my bicycle 30.1 Seat post holder Judging from the previous Original seatpost that came with the bike. My 27.2 Seat Outer circumference would not fit into the Cane Creek Seatpost As it (Cane Creek compress slightly after forcing it (A tight fit) into my bikes seatpost holder.3Does What it is Supposed to DoWhat can you say about something as simple as a shim? This 27.2 / 31.6 product from Cane Creek performs exactly as it should. I use several different 27.2 MM seatposts on my Trek Shift 4 which has a 31.6 MM seat tube. Most were left over from previous bikes I've owned. All are held firmly by this shim with no slippage at all. I've used a variety of shims in the past, some work fine and others are too loose requiring excessive tightening of the seat tube. This Cane Creek product is among those that work. The black finish matches the color scheme of the bike as well.5This little piece saved my bike. A bike shop ...This little piece saved my bike. A bike shop said they couldn t help me but by mistake, I discovered this piece on Amazon and decided to see if it can help me fix an manufacturer error. Along with a smaller seat pole and the shim I was able to ride my bike. Thanks to the person who made this item.5Superior fit and finish; perfect match to the Cane Creek ThudbusterOK, it's a shim. It fits and does what it needs to do. I wouldn't ordinarily take the time to review so basic a product, but the superior finish deserves a mention.I own Cane Creek shims in two sizes: 27.2 to 29.8 and 27.2 to 30.8. The reason is to use my Cane Creek 3G Thudbuster Long Travel Seatpost, 27.2 in my two bicycles. Too bad that 27.2 isn't a universal size. The machining on Cane Creek's shims is flawless. The black anodizing not only matches the Thudbuster, it has the same micro etching to hold grease. The silk screening won't last, of course, but it's also flawless. The thicker Cane Creek shims have an additional feature that goes beyond cosmetics. The shims have a half thickness groove opposite the compression slot. The groove is on the interior wall so it won't show up in the photos. It is the same width as the compression slot and runs the full length of the shim.My 30.8 OD shim has this groove, whereas my 29.8 OD does not. It makes a difference. I can squeeze the 30.8 shim closed with one hand, but not the thinner walled 29.8. The groove insures that you don't need to be Hercules to tighten your seat post clamp. The instructions call for applying grease to all four matching surfaces; i.e., the ID of the seat tube, the ID and OD of the shim, and the OD of the seat post. Less is better than more. The grease is only to prevent the surfaces from corroding together. If you apply too much, as I did, then the excess will have nowhere to go regardless of how much you tighten the seat clamp. The seat post will slowly squish down under load like a hydraulic piston.Made in the USA doesn't guarantee quality anymore, but it's nice to see when it does.5Just the thing. This was just what I needed, it works perfect. My bike had been stored away for a few years and somehow the seat post and seat are MIA. It's a Trek and lo and behold, they don't have just one seat post size on their different models. I purchased a 1", 25.4mm post and it fell in the hole so after doing some research I found my model had a 26.6mm post. This is much much better than the soda can I cut and wrapped around the post at first. No worries. works great.5Seems to work so far.Used this adapter for a Eten KS dropper and it held up good on the first run. No slippage and no hangup on the dropper from crunching the tube. Mounted on a Ironhorse MKIII Expert and definitely made it easier transitioning from smooth trail to the rock garden and back on the flat without having to stop and adjust the seat post.5Superior fit and finish; perfect match to the Cane Creek ThudbusterOK, it's a shim.
