Smudges & Marks - Looks UsedI really like my new clipboard. However, despite it having been well packaged, it has smudges and marks on it that look like marker stains before I've even used it. It's not enough for me to return it. It looks like a sturdy board with a nice sharp marker that clips onto the board and attaches with velcro. This would have been a 5 star rating if not for those stains. It really irritates me. 3Perfect for team moms as well as coaches.Ok, how many of you have been team moms and the coaches expect you to take care of EVERYTHING? Our coach is like that this season, so I have come prepared. First he fussed at me for not knowing the line up. I had a line up on paper, but he went behind me and changed it...but that's a whole other story! Anyway, instead of a crumpled piece of paper, I decided to hop online to see if I could find anything. This board is a stroke of genius. I make the coach, in his own handwriting, write the line up on here for me, then we hang the board on the fence. This way, all of the coaches, parents, etc. can see who is next in the batting order, and what position they are playing. We could've used a number of things, but I LOVE this. 5Great because of the color on it under flourescent lights!!! A MUST HAVE!!!My 16 year old son bought this for his basketball coach as an end of summer season gift. It didn't disappoint! His coach loves it because it's bigger than the one he used to have and because it has both sides of the court on one side & 1/2 court on the other side. It's very easy to see too because the old one was just white. Because this one is yellow, the players can see the play calls much better. It's very easy to write on & erases a lot better too. Would highly recommend this for all basketball coaches. 5Sturdy and helpfulThis is both sturdy and helpful. As a first time coach, this comes in handy with player placement. I wasn t sure what to expect out of a clipboard like this, but I like it. 4serves its purpose, won't disappoint.Things you should know about this clipboard before you buy it:1. There is no velcro strap to attach the dry-erase marker to the clipboard so you will need to find another place to store it like a pocket or chair or elsewhere. Not a big deal unless you lose pens & pencils a lot. On the other end, it has a pad attached to the marker lid that is used to erase the board instead finding a tissue or something that can be rougher on you and rougher on the board.2. This clipboard is larger than notebook size. You won't be able to store it with your normal notebooks and folders. I wouldn't recommend writing directly onto a piece of paper on the clipboard but would recommend using it as a backboard if you have a notebook or scorebook you write into. This clipboard has a clip at the top if you need it to hold papers or other things in place.3. If you are deciding between this board and others, this clipboard has the courts illustrated in yellow which makes the plays easier to see for you and your players. It may sound silly, but when you get in a gym with white colored walls and odd lighting, it provides good contrast and highlight for your play drawing instead of staring at black marks on a white board.This board will not disappoint. It serves its purpose. It has full court on the clip side on half court on the back side along with spaces for player names and #s, making it easier to identify your players on the play drawing, by number or by name instead of just by court position. 4Great for the price and really SturdyGot this as a gift to my hubby who coaches. I was overwhelmed by all the different choices, but thisam glad I got this. The marker has a Velcro holder and it s very sturdy. He really like the back with the half court POV image. 5Manufacturer's defect. Cannot return.Edit:I emailed the seller regarding the issues they they contacted me within a day, saying they would send out a replacement. I got the new board within a few days. However, the new board also had some black smudges (see additional photos). I bumped the review up to 3 stars because of the very quick response time. Also, the board is usable and I'll just have to ignore the smudges.-----------------------------------------Original Review:The price was good but the clipboard arrived defective.1) In one section, the surface of the clipboard is wrinkly and not smooth.2) There are black smudges across the middle of the clipboard that will not wipe off3) The yellow paint on one of the borders was applied incorrectly. There is an extra smudge of paint.Amazon said I cannot return this because it contained flammable liquids. I've contacted the seller and will update this review if they respond. 3Slightly bigger than the average clipboard.This clipboard is a nice size. Slightly larger than your typical "Dicks" issued clipboards. Additionally it has a larger half court, albeit with distance perspective, on the back for drawing up out-of-bounds-plays in the huddle. There are a few lines for player line-ups on the back too, but in the heat of the game, they often inadvertently are wiped away. I don't particularly like the yellow court... white would be fine, but at least there is some difference between the lanes and court. And it does draw the players eyes to what is important in the huddle. Mine arrived in a stapled package, but with a few scuffs on it, so while it's new it looked a bit used. My player son approved and likes to draw up plays on it as well. 5Came with scratches and seems usedLove the board. Good size. Wipes off well. Had scratches on front and back and not eligible for return. I know it sounds minor but a little frustrating to get a new product with obvious flaws.Update: Called Amazon and they're sending a replacement. Hoping for the best! 3This a great clipboard.
