Customer Reviews

Good stool, worthless back.People are right about the back of this chair. I am 212 lbs and practically have to lay down to engage the back rest. I will also be looking for something to use to "stop" the back so it doesn't go so far back. This is something the chair should have been engineered with. However, it is very lightweight and easy to carry which is what I needed. Not too hard on my oversized behind either. If you don't want to do your own modifications, this is basically just a folding stool. Coleman makes this as the Coleman Rambler II Stool which is half the price and a much better deal. I do need the back support, so I will be "fixing" this myself. 3Good value.Great camp chair. True, the back reclines farther back than what some might find comfortable, so I did what others have done. I added a stopper. Mine is from wine cork and duct tape. It took five minutes. It is super light, sturdy, compact and comfortable. I am 5'5" and 155 pounds, so the seat height and width are great for me. Good value and I enjoy playing Mac Gyver.3-8-19 Used chair daily for months now. Helps me get up and out of my tent. Sturdy, comfy. Best purchase for me. 5"Coleman," I should make a mental note to keep away from.Good for when the grandkids come over and they need a very tiny chair to sit on. The dimension shown in the photo is deceptive, the height of the seat part of the chair is not shown and is only 16 inches off the ground, which is below my knee. The seat itself is 12 inches by 12 inches. The brand itself "Coleman," I should make a mental note to keep away from. This is not the first Coleman product that I found to be in appropriate for the intended use. I gave this a 2 star rating because it does have some uses, but not for an adult. 2Modders ChairWhat everyone says is true. The backrest is ridiculously engineered to lean back at an uncomfortable angle. Lame , all they had to do is increase the slight bend in the backrest bar several degrees forward. The fix was easy enough for me, i screwed in a couple of 15mm hard plastic chair feet to space the backrest forward. Now the angle is comfortable and supportive. I also raised the backrest up 2" using pvc pipe. I intend to use a square chair pad, now all the dimensions are nice. I got this for car camping to have an armless chair for playing guitar around the campfire, should work well. 4Uncomfortable and short, looking for another option.I play ukulele and wanted a lightweight, portable, armless chair to bring to jam sessions; the Woodsman II looked like a good option. Nope. I m an average sized person and I found it very uncomfortable. The frame that supports the seat presses against the back of my legs or hits my tailbone. The canvas seat is just 12 inches wide. The Woodsman II is only about an inch and a half shorter than a standard kitchen chair, but that difference is noticeable. As others have mentioned, the angle of the backrest makes it unusable. This chair has it s good points - it's light, easy to set up and inexpensive but the cons outweigh the pros. I m returning it and looking for another option. In the meantime, if I need a chair when playing music with friends, I m bringing a lightweight folding chair I bought for $8 at a store that rhymes with Mikea. I likea it a lot better! 2Not everything I had hoped for.I bought this chair to use in my ground blind while deer hunting. I had previously been using three legged stools or 5 gallon buckets but I wanted something with a back rest. The chair is lightweight and portable but seems to be fairly durable for it's weight. It is not to hard to carry through the woods. The back rest is too far back to be very useful. If you lean all the way back it almost feels like you are laying down, however this can be adjusted by using a spacer such as a couple of washers. The real issue I had was that the seat itself is not very wide, after sitting for a long time my butt started to become very sore. Standing up to relieve the pressure helped but when I would sit back down the seat would creak. Not a good thing when you are hunting. My wife came out to sit with me for a while. when she sat in it, it did not make any noise at all. She weighs 150 lbs. to my 225 lbs.So the chair might work better for someone who is lighter and has a smaller butt.I think sitting in it for an hour or so at a campsite would be just fine, but beyond that I think a 5 gallon bucket would almost be more comfortable for me anyway. 3I've not seen a suitable alternative that's this lightI've had one of Coleman's older model chairs similar to this for about 30 years... aluminum frame, light as a feather, but the cloth is looking like it will let go any time now, so I got this one to replace it. Other folks that complained about this chair leaning back too far were right.... it is a poor design. But, I went to the wood shop and cut a small piece of wood to fit on the back support and added a couple rubber bumpers on it.... problem solved. The cloth feels durable, and the chair is a little heavier than the original, but not by much. It's OK because of the leaning back thing, but I think it will do for camping and surf fishing, and I've not seen a suitable alternative that's this light,so that's why I spent the time to make it right 3Terrific little chairTerrific little chair, perfect for my purpose. I purchased to take to a large weekly meeting I attend, where the fire dept. has limited the number of chairs for the room. Since we are housed in the fire department's building, there is no wiggle room around this regulation! However, I live one half hour's drive away, so don't want to miss the meeting just because the room has filled. I can carry this light chair up a steep hill (I am a 66 years old female) and don't feel tired. It is very comfortable for an hour. The top leans back a little too much for alertness, so I prop against a wall and am fine. [I should add that most extra folks sit on floor mats but my tight hips and bad back preclude this option]. I have also loaned this chair out to large men who also claim it is comfortable. I keep it in the back of my Camry; it doesn't take up much room as it folds flat. East to carry. The seat has some "give" so good for preventing my tailbone pain. A very good value. 5Great seat, and a backrest, too!Terrific little chair, just what I was looking for to take out sketching and open air painting. Originally, I had thought about getting a small stool, but realized I'd be very uncomfortable on the smaller seat, and without a back to lean against. I can add extra padding to this seat with my jacket, or a blanket stowed in the car. The four legs make it more stable as I work. And there's a nice back to rest against. Folds up and fits right behind the driver's seat (the backrest folds down). For my spending money, this was a great choice. 5I keep this in the trunk of my car - light, easy to unfold, but solidMy elderly parents cannot stand more than 15 minutes. So I keep this in the truck of their car so that they always have a lightweight chair available. Once we went to a burial and were late and there was no seating so we would able to unobtrusively join the back of the group and they still were able to sit.It is a touch low so a very tall person or a very heavy person might not find this item suitable. But for average size people the height is fine.Attractive taupe color. Light enough for my 80+ father to handle. Doesn't take too much space in the trunk. Love it. 5
