    Not at all what I was looking for!Bought a pair of Sliver Ridge convertible pants and loved them size was great and enough room in the legs so I bought these same size as the convertible pants. First the where a size too small not a big problem for me I could still button them and it would just be a goal for me to reach.The problem I have found with many hiking pants and I did not think I'd have the problem with these because the convertible pants fit fine. If your a guy and have big tree trunk legs these will not fit you! These hiking pants are more like skinny jeans when you have them on and lift your leg up you feel like the part about the butt is going to rip!!If it was only the waist size I'd give these a 4 star review because I'd still be able to wear them they would just be a little tight but because they seem to be made only for people who don't work out there legs it's a one star these pants are worthless to me!! 1Stands Up to Mother NatureI bought a pair of these pants for a 10 day BWCA trip into the remote wilderness. These pants held up and then some.First They dry amazingly quick which is a huge plus. when getting in and out of a canoe on the portages you are bound to get somewhat wet, even soaked....(falling in).Second, they are surprisingly durable. We traveled through mud, rock, sand, gravel, brush, trees, weeds etc and not a single rip or loose thread. I was shocked to say the least, I honestly do not think another pair of pants could have held up to the abuse these pants endured.Third, they are comfortable and keep you protected from the sun. This might have been the best part considering the mobility and comfort in the pant combined with the fact that I never got sunburnt on my legs.To make a long story short buy these pants. I won't be purchasing any other brand any time soon. 5If you're thinking in 36 size..it fits as 32 in regular sizeI ordered a 36x30 size and was to small for me. My Dad is 32 and fitted perfect. He liked it so I didn't send it back. I will order a 40 size just to check it out but normally my size is 36. I've put 4 stars since my dad just love it and my dissapointment was minimized 4Excellent travel slacksWe ordered several pairs of these slacks for travel to Europe this spring, with the hope they would accommodate all the pockets a day out requires and then dry overnight after a sink wash and they performed perfectly. Preferring performance to style, my husband appreciated their lightweight cool comfort and they literally weigh a few ounces and take up little space in the suitcase, which is pretty wonderful. No issues with quality, they were rugged as we climbed in and out of buses, boats, gondalas, etc. This is a great find for the travel wardrobe. 5Quick dry on a rack, great on long flights, easy to wash/dry overnight for travel, light in luggage,I bought them for husband and the waist and legs fit as expected. I bought his usual length, but they were a little too long. I like them because we travel very lightly with only a carry on backpack and an underseat bag. We take enough clothes for 3 days, so we wash when we run out of clothes. When we travel to Scotland, most places only have racks to dry clothes on, and these pants dry by the next morning. They are very comfortable on 8 hours flights. During the winter, he wears leggings under them because they are very thin. They repel water and wind, but are not waterPROOF. Otherwise you would not be able to clean them in a washing machine. You can dry them in an electric dryer on low. His pants have never shrunk in the dryer, and I know they have dried on normal heat with his jeans. We did not remove them when dry, and let them keep tumbling with his jeans. These are the "slacks" I can get him to wear instead of jeans when traveling, so they are comfortable. He didn't complain about the pockets. 5Dammit- these are great. Now I'm a dad.Look, I wish these weren't so damn practical and comfortable, but they ARE. And now I have 3 pairs of these pants, and I have lost ALL sense of fashion. My big-ass Samsung phone fits in the back pocket without falling out, and that's practically reason enough to get tyhem. Then the beslt.... DAMMIT, I am going to wear these all the time! 5Great pants for hiking the Applachian TrailI bought these pants after a friend who had a smiliar pair recommended them.I just finished a section hike of the Applachian Trail in these and could not be more impressed.The pants themselves are very light weight and extremely comfortable. The material is lightweight enough to not be combersome on long hikes, but strong enough to withstand brier bushes and sticks. I wore the same pair of pants 4 days in a row with no real issues what so ever. The only "issue" I had with the pants was a small hole that was put in them after I sat on a rock.The pants come with a belt that is very lightweight and easy to adjust. I was impressed with how study the belt was for being so lightweight. It is strong enought to clip something too, like a multitool or flashlight. I was worried that the added weight of my multitool would break the belt buckle but it held up just fine.The pants themselves are small in the waist so I highly recommend ordering a size larger than what you normally wear. 5Tiny pockets, hipster cutThe front pockets are too small to carry a normal amount of man stuff without risk of things falling out. The cut is tight around the butt and junk, tighter yet with the normal stuff in your pockets. The rest of the pants are normal roomy cut for cargo pants.Dear Columbia,If I can't fit a pair of pliers or a snub nose revolver in my front pockets without them sticking out, the pockets are too small. If I can't fit a cell phone and a wallet in my pockets without showing the world the detail of my business, the pockets are too small.And really it is a danger to the public. If I go out in pants that tight it distracts the womenfolk so they crash their shopping carts. I can only imagine if I walked down the sidewalk. Give us comfortable pants with big pockets for the sake of public safety if nothing else! 1outstanding hiking pants but would be better with tougher material for back pocketsOutstanding hiking pants, as I've come to expect from Columbia. Light but tough nylon fabric, extremely comfortable.I like that the belt hoops are wide so one can replace the basic belt that comes with these with a different, better looking and sturdier one.The only reason I give it four stars instead of 5 is that, in common with all the other hiking pants I've seen, the back pockets are made of a light mesh that can rip easily. These pants would have been much better if the back pockets were made entirely out of the nylon fabric from the pants (as the side leg pockets already are). As is, feel necessary to put wallet and valuables in a belt pouch instead. 4Not Columbia QualityThese are not the quality I expect from Columbia.Here is my take. We've all seen women that wear workout clothes/yoga pants - but never go to the gym or do yoga. These pants are for the male equivalent. If you are a dude and NEVER have any plans of going on a hike or into the forest - BUT you want everyone to THINK you are trail ready - these pants are for you!They've been on three short day hikes with me. The stitching around the pockets and in the crotch started to come loose on the 1st hike. I couldn t return them because I'm past the Amazon return window. After the 3rd hike - they have multiple places with stitching coming apart and the crotch is nearly ready to open up.They are NOT trail ready. These are not active wear. I do not recommend. 1
