Worth every pennyI have two of these (one for each knee... imagine that!) and have used them for a year now. I use them for about an hour each morning while working out. They are still in great condition and haven't stretched or lost their shape at all. I clean them periodically with warm water, squeeze them out, and hang them over the tub to dry. They dry very quickly, by the way, just a couple hours.I have osteoarthritis in my knees and use to end up with sore knees quite often even though my workout is low-impact (usually elliptical machine). Since using these braces and taking Osteo BiFlex I have seen a great improvement. I'm pretty sure it's a combination of the two that has been so effective, but I do know that on occasion when I decide to work out without the McDavids I usually end up feeling it in my knees.For me the only drawbacks are (1) they really make my knees sweat and (2) they are not comfortable while stretching. I don't like to wear them while walking, although I probably should, because for some reason they feel more restrictive when I'm walking than when i'm on the elliptical machine. I ordered a medium, maybe a large would feel better for walking. 5NOT True to sizeMy husband had bought a set of these several months ago and wanted a 2nd set. He checked the previous order and ordered his 2nd pair. They look nothing like the original nor are they close to the same size. Not sure what happened with that but we've sent them back.Do any measuring beforehand to save you the aggravation. He is still using the old ones. 4This is a review of the seller and the itemDay of receipt: Let me just say that I haven't used the product yet, and it may be OK, but I felt compelled to immediately write a review of the seller/supplier. This item arrived SMELLING SO OVERWHELMINGLY MOLDY/MUSTY that after trying it on (quickly) and feeling an irritation of my skin as well as my sinuses, I'm now washing it and HOPING that the horrific odor dissipates. The only reason I'm keeping it (truly, I'm horrified by the condition in which it arrived) is that it's the 5th different knee sleeve I've ordered online and I've already had to return the other 4 BECAUSE THE SIZING CHARTS PROVIDED WERE COMPLETELY INACCURATE (yes, I'm irritated -- I guess that will be the topic for reviewing other sellers). I hope I get to use this item. It's difficult to find basic neoprene open patella knee sleeves these days, and I need a couple. I'll add to this review if I ultimately have feedback about the functionality of the product itself, but definitely be forewarned about how and for how long this has been stored by the seller. Geez!A few days later: I've now been wearing the brace, so I'll add to the above. I can't completely get the odor out (still hoping), BUT, the brace itself is actually working out really well! It's comfortable and supportive, and the opening at the patella is larger than other braces I've tried, which is actually a plus (when I say larger, I don't mean too large; I mean large enough so that it's not uncomfortably pressing against my kneecap). Thus, I've changed my overall rating from a 1 to a 4. That not withstanding, the supplier and/or the way this item has been stored is truly very problematic. The odor upon receipt was just disgusting. Still, I'd recommend it. Go figure! 4Ordered a M and L as not sure which size would feel the bestI did measure my knee first and one of those sizes should have worked fine, but neither did. I have bought this brand in the past; not this new, updated version though. My old ones fit great and gave me relief, these new ones were not good at all. The M was too tight when all I did was try it on, so, I tried on the L and went w/that. It, however, when in use it did fit my thigh, was OK at my knee and too lose at the top of my calf, plus, the back of my knee where it bunched up was really uncomfortable. Returning both as unusable for me. After I realized this I looked, for the 5th time, for my old ones and managed to find one. I used it the next day and it fit like a charm, not too tight or loose anywhere and didn't bunch up uncomfortable at the back of my knee. So, the new version of this brand is not a good option for me, at all. Too bad. 3Did not fit as expectedI bought this for my son, who is tall and lean. After following the size chart and instructions on measuring, I placed the order with confidence. The top of the brace was loose on my sons leg, it was not tight and did not provide support. In addition, he wore it for a few hours and it itched him the entire time.Unfortunately, even with the 65% saying it fitted as expected, it was not the case for us. I would not recommend this product. 2Still too tightUpdate 5/2018- I lost weight. I'm still a pear and have larger thighs. I'm not sure what body type this is for. With that being said, when I wear it during crossfit exercises I have minimal pain after so it definitely supports my knees (i bought 2). The only issue is that I can only wear them with baggy pants because they honestly make my thighs look like sausages in leggings. I wish they came in larger sizes.I got the largest size and I can't wear it yet. I measured before I bought it but still can't fit it. I assume they once I lose 10-15 lbs it will be more comfy because now it's too tight and would probably cause damage of I wore it now. 3SIZE CHART MAY NOT AGREE WITH YOUR COMFORTUsing the measurement guide for this McDavid style knee support, I ordered Large. I found it to be too constricting after a few hours. Several times I had to remove it because it felt like it was cutting off my circulation. I tried the next size up and had less discomfort. 3Size Chart Issues...for womenI found the size chart over at the McDavid website, which states: Small: 12-14 inches, Medium: 14-15 inches, Large: 15-17 inches, XL 17-20 inches, XXL 20-22 inches. So I measured around the largest part of my knee at 17.5 inches and ordered the XL. I think the size chart is intended for Men With Skinny Legs. Not for Women With Plump Legs. I could not get it past my calf to save my life. Then I had to get help to get it off my leg, it was so tight. I have re-ordered as a XXL. Perhaps my experience will be helpful to you. It seems to be a very well-made product. 4Running with injured knee...I completed my first marathon a couple of months ago and injured my right knee(outside) during the process. Recovery has been slow or even non existent, so upon the recommendation of a friend I decided to give knee braces/support/sleeve a try. I received the McDavid Knee brace yesterday and went out for a run today. I got the small size (my measurement was 13.5) and it was a well fit brace for me. Lately during my injury run I would experience pain after 2 miles and my knees would cry after the 3rd mile. At the end I would be limping, especially walking downstairs. The slight pain appeared again around mile 2 today even after I wore the McDavid brace, however, the pain was not as bothersome and I managed to run over 8 miles nonstop, and best thing is no limping after my run. The sleeve didn't move around for me during the 8 mile run (although it felt like it did), and felt quite comfortable wearing it. I will keep running with it hopefully soon I would be free of the knee injury and can run without it. 4Sizing runs smallI've bough a few knee braces over the past years, and I am always a Medium. Bought this brace, but the size runs tight. Bought a size Medium but probably should've gone for a large for this brand. 3
