Customer Reviews

You will need shoulder surgery after a year. This was the first paddle I owned. I couldn't bring myself to buy a $100 paddle. So when I finally got experience kayaking I could tell you the difference. The shaft is aluminum. You want a fiberglass, carbon fiber, or graphite shaft. The weight and thickness matter a great deal especially if you paddling over a mile. The blades should never be plastic. You want fiberglass or carbon fiber blades. The plastic ones have to much give in them. Making you exert more energy to paddle. They would have two be three times thicker to match fiberglass. So they cupped them for strength. This also takes away all efficiency. This will seem like a great buy till you have shoulder surgery. Depends how much you paddle. If you buy this be warned that this paddle should not be used for long periods of time or distance. 1Great paddle for the price!Great paddle for the price! I find it to be very light, its not the best length for my arms, but where I paddle I need to be more compact so it is actually a blessing! 5Well made and sturdy. Two piece design makes it easy to transportWell made and sturdy. Two piece design makes it easy to transport. Very rigid and does not flex while paddling. 5One StarIt felt kind of cheap and it was pretty heavy. Also, it's only held by one screw.. 1I didn't like this paddle at all once I had it on ...Bought this to replace my existing Quest paddle, because the one I originally bought for my kayak is too short. I didn't like this paddle at all once I had it on the water. The asymmetrical Quest paddle pushed much more water and worked much better. Will probably keep this one just for a back-up since it was cheap, but hope I never have to use it. 1Nice valueWe've had 3 kayaks for several years now, and each year several paddles get lost. They somehow get lost on a river, or at a campsite, or get left in the wrong vehicle, or someone else's kayak, etc., etc., etc. So we're always on the hunt for inexpensive paddles. These paddles are fine. It seems kayak paddles are becoming more expensive every day, and at our attrition rate, I don't need to spend $60-$100 on a paddle. I prefer a more rounded blade to the square blade, but I also prefer $17 to $60. A very good paddle for the money. 4Nice soft handleI bought this paddle for my girl to accompany me in my tandem kayak I wasn't going to spend a lot since she rarely comes but when she does this paddle is good for her. I really like that it has padding it makes it easy to grip it's very lightweight and it comes apart and it's easy to store. It's a good price it does what it's supposed to do. 5Good price for a good paddleGood price for a good paddle! Will float for a little bit (I was too afraid to leave floating for too long, as I didn't have a pool or somewhere that I could fetch it if it did sink). Feels good in my hands, although I'd probably get gloves for longer trips. Light and easy to maneuver. Definitely drips some water, but no more than expected. I have never used a kayak paddle that dripped less than this one, although I also have never used a high-end, expensive paddle before. 4Had to send it back after first kayak outing.Got these for the new kayak and was super excited to get out on the lake. For the price, they felt great out of the box, however on the water there was a glaring issue that made me send them back after the first use. Once these got wet, the foam grip pads got "lubed up" just enough and started moving down the pole. Not incredibly loose like, but just enough little by little, paddle by paddle that halfway through my outing is when I noticed. One pad slid down gradually enough and down to the point that it covered over the joint in the middle. Given the materials and with being wet, it made enough suction that it was impossible to just move or twist it back up to where it belonged. So for the rest of the outing it was just stuck in the middle unable to slide back into position. Trying to pack up to go home, I couldn't depress the button hard enough to separate the two pieces because of this foam covering it. Once it dried out at home I was able to move it back enough to separate and send it back in the box it came in. If this sliding grip issue is fixed, this would be a great paddle and value price-wise. 2Solid budget paddleIt's $25. FWIW, I used this more for a solo canoe so my strokes are steeper. Yes, the foam will slip. I have issues with is shedding water but that is common, hit it with NeverWet. It's $25 and does the job it's asked to do. Is it the best paddle? NO. Do the drip rings work well? NO. Is it my favorite paddle? NO. Would I take it exclusively for a 2 week excursion? NO. Can it double as a tent/tarp pole or pry bar? NO. Will it last through 5 years of hard, repetitive use? NO. Can you drive over it? NO. Can it stir the campfire? NO. Is it a decent option for a backup, a option for to a less gear-worthy friend, and a weekend keep-in-the-truck extra? YES. Is it soo bad that it will ruin a weekend? Most likely not. 5
