    • To choose the correct size, measure the circumference of your knee 2in/ 5cm below the center of your knee cap (patella). Refer to the how to measure video.

    I have robot kneesI got these to wear in the gym. I have always had problems with my right knee and after an injury at work I felt like I needed more support while working out in the gym. Im a big time gym rat and wear these during every workout. My knees are supported and feel much better after my workouts than they ever did before. When using them for squats I go up to 415lbs for sets and they feel secure. The only problem I have was the stitching on the outside of each knee around the top of the bottom hinge arm came loose. It has not effected the brace in any way though and they still work like a champ. Im sure I caused this because I think I put them through much more than they are intended for. I have one for each knee and as soon as I put them on my knees feel brand new and almost robotic. The braces are comfy while at the gym and even help pad my legs from using large dumbbells for chest press. My knee has gotten stronger now and I owe alot of the credit to the braces for being able to handle what I put them through and they got me back to healthy. I am now without knee pain in my daily life and they feel good again.One thing that I did not expect was the amount of people that ask me about the braces. I lost count of how many people ask me what they are and where I got them. I will many times run errands before or after the gym and I wear them the whole time so when Ive been in differeent stores strangers will just walk up and ask about them. They do look nice and do sport some bright colors but I have never had a knee brace draw so much attention. I always give them a rave review and I hope they took the advice and bought them for themselves.They are the best, most supportive, best looking, most comfortable braces I have ever worn and I have tried them all. If you need a knee brace Shock Doctor is the king.I also bought the level 3 brace. It is just like this brace but has two crossing straps in the back instead of only the lower one like on these. I actually found the level 3 to feel more giving and this level 2 felt more restrictive to me so I have started using this exclusively in the gym since it kept my knees more rigid. I now use the level 3 for other non gym related things like bike riding. 5AN OK Product - But TERRIBLE SIZING Chart. - Don't waste your time.I was excited when I ordered and it arrived, saddened when it arrived. Functionally it does it job. But the sizing chart is WRONG. Measure below the knee cap like the instructions say but when I went to put it on it appeared way too small as it took some effort to put it on and even more effort to take it off. Figuring that it will stretch out with some usage, it has not. I have since worn it few time even working out and washed it, and it still is way too tight. Given this I looked into returning it and there basically is no option to return for a different size. Frustrated and a bit angry, Shock Doctor needs to update its sizing chart because it is wrong. I should have have ordered an XXL and not an XL. I also noticed that this product is made overseas where sizing measures can be different that they are in the US. Be aware before you buy and read ALL the reviews - especially the one that pertain to Shock Doctor's sizing chart. 1While they did provide the stability I felt quite "Forrest Gump-ish" they are too heavy and limited comfortable movement for spoI have had 2 ACL replacements and a Menicus surgery, not to mention several arthroscopic surgeries, on my left knee. I have had several braces that are too large, as in too bulky, from crotch to ankle. While they did provide the stability I felt quite "Forrest Gump-ish" they are too heavy and limited comfortable movement for sports. I bought this for a Volleyball tournament hoping against odds that it would provide even a modicum of the stability for lateral movement that the huge braces provided. I risked it because I also do martial arts and have a Shock Doctor mouth guard. I recognized the brand and was always happy with the mouth guard for tournament competition... All that history aside... THIS BRACE IS FANTASTIC. It provides great lateral (side to side) support as well as behind the knee support, which is rare in braces like these. DOWNSIDE... Be careful to not cinch it too tight as it will feel like a boa constrictor within seconds, but that is all under your control as a user. My only complaint with this brace is... the Velcro frayed the first time I washed it, in a delicates bag in a delicate cycle. This isnt good news for someone like me that will be using this brace at least three times a week in the gym, for kick boxing, on disgusting mats and in sand for volleyball. I am expecting to have to replace it annually if the fraying continues. Otherwise, like I said, GREAT and useful product. 5Strong and supportive, but go up a sizeThe good think I can say about this brace is that it definitely works. The metal on both sides really help to support the knee and I can feel the difference when wearing it. I use this brace while skiing and I am mostly happy. It stays in place very well and relieves much of the pain from my knee. The negative I have for the brace is that it is very tight around my calf (below the knee). I measured and ordered a large which seems to fit my thigh and knee okay, but is very tight around my calf and can get quite uncomfortable after prolonged use. Hard to say if going up a size would have been better as it is really only in the calf where it seems small. I may recommend going a size larger than recommended on their sizing chart though. 4Runs Small, Size UpPROS:- Very well constructed- Looks sportyCONS:- Runs small, size Up- Sizing chart could be more accurateTIP: Like other reviewers, getting this very tight contraption on and off (especially with a painful injury) is unbelieveably difficult. I was almost about to return it when I figured this out: slide your pant leg through the brace first... then slide your leg into the pant leg until you can't go any further. Then pull on your pant leg above the brace with one hand and use your other hand to pull up the brace by the knee hole at the same time. When taking it off, pull the bottom of your pant leg and pull the brace down via the knee hole at the same time. It made getting it on and off MUCH easier.I typically wear size XL in regular clothes, and was surprised to find I fell under XXL, the largest size they have and it was still quite tight.If you are having difficulty getting this on and off, see my tip above. It felt super tight the first day or two, but after that, it felt less stiff and "broken in." I'm wearing it to stabilize my knee while waiting for surgery in a few weeks. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because I believe the sizing runs small, and I hope the company makes them in larger sizes. I have a few larger coworkers with knee issues as well, and were disappointed to find out this was their largest size. 4Worth the buyBought a similar Mueller brace which was more expensive than this and was really uncomfortable because of the hinges.This was way more comfortable. The hinges has a more thicker padding on them from the inside which is important when you are wearing this kind of brace with hinges. Compression is also good.Downside of this brace is that it takes an enormous amount of effort to put on and take off without wearing a compression sleeve under (NO JOKE)!But with compression you can slip in and out easily.And the fit is definitely small like most reviews would tell you, but that was not a problem for me since i'm a skinny guy. 4These things are amazing! I bought them some time in 2013 I've ...These things are amazing!I bought them some time in 2013 I've been using them for 1 to 2 two hour or more karate classes a week pretty consistently.It's now mid January 2017 and I'm scrolling back through my purchase history because I'd like to buy a new pair.After exceptional use, multiple washings etc. they're finally starting to get a little beat up.As a martial artist who's been at it for over 30 years as well as a big guy my knees are pretty beat.These things really do the trick, they keep the muscles warm and provide good snugs support. 5If I didn't read the other reviews then I would not be a happy camper. This is by far the best knee support I have seen but if I did not buy the XXL and went with the XL as the measurements said to then I would not be happy. Keep it simple, measure yourself, then pick the next size higher...fits perfectly. Thanks!!! 4Not good enough.I thought this would be good based on the reviews, but I was wrong.For one thing, there is a terrible smell which I was eventually able to mitigate by vigorous washing.Second, it is uncomfortable, although the size seemed not to be an issue.The Velcro straps are not properly designed and after a while, regardless of tightness, start cutting in the back of the knees.I got this to replace my 5 year old TruFit which no longer seems to be in production, but now I have to find yet another one. 1Seems like they would be great, but poor sizing...My son is a lineman in freshman football and needs some knee support/protection. I didn't want to overspend in year one of his career as lineman braces are over $200 each! I originally purchased a set of these in XL and they were too small for my son, so I returned them. I measured just below the knee (as advised) and he is 16", so the XXLs, should have fit and bought the XXls. When he tried them on, they were actually SMALLER than the XLs that I returned. He had to work very hard to get the XLs over the calf, but the XXLs never made it over the calf. Super disappointed since they look great, seem to be very well made and look to be quite supportive/protective. Despite our sizing issue, I would recommend them to others, but be weary of sizing! Maybe go to Dick's or Academy and try them on and purchase here afterward. 2
